From November 1 to 3, 2024, the “2024 Bridge Academic Annual Conference” was successfully held in Shuangliu, Chengdu, hosted by the Sichuan Highway Society, organized by the Bridge Committee of the Sichuan Highway Society and Sichuan Highway Planning, Survey, Design, and Research Institute Co., Ltd., and co-organized by multiple entities. As a co-organizer, Datong participated in this conference, which brought together multiple bridge experts and approximately 300 industry enthusiasts from bridge construction, design, engineering, research, and maintenance units for exchange and learning. The theme of this annual conference was “Energy Saving, Emission Reduction, Cost Reduction, and Efficiency Improvement,” with a focus on breakthroughs in new structures, processes, and materials for bridges, aiming to make bridge construction greener, low-carbon, convenient, and efficient.
At the opening ceremony of the 2024 Sichuan Bridge Academic Annual Conference, Mr. Li Quanwen, President of the Sichuan Highway Society, delivered a welcome speech. Mr. Huang Bing, Chief Engineer of Sichuan Shudao Investment Group and Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Sichuan Expressway Construction and Development Group Co., Ltd., attended and spoke at the conference. Mr. Mou Tingmin, Chairman of the Bridge Committee of the Sichuan Highway Society, presided over the opening ceremony.
On November 2 and November 3, multiple academic reports covering bridge research, management, design, construction, and related products were arranged. Shen Danyang, Deputy Director of the Technology R&D Department of our company, was one of the speakers and delivered a presentation titled “Practice and Exploration of Green Construction Concepts in Bridge Components.” The report summarized that green construction is a significant development direction in the field of bridge engineering today. During the construction process, the core concept of green bridge construction is to adopt low-energy and low-pollution construction techniques, such as prefabricated and modular construction methods. Innovative design of bridge components is also a feasible approach to achieve the goals of “green, low-carbon, convenient, and rapid” bridge construction. This report primarily shared some practices and explorations in the innovative design of bridge components by our company in recent years.
Additionally, the conference included a selection activity for academic reports, where invited experts in design, construction, and research evaluated the presentations. Among 49 academic reports, two won the first prize for “Outstanding Report,” five won the second prize, and six won the third prize. Young bridge professionals, bridge product representatives, and veteran experts were invited to present awards to the winners. Our company’s report was awarded third prize in the “Outstanding Report” category.
After the academic conference, attendees visited the construction site of the elevated bridge expansion on the Chengdu-Leshan Expressway and Chengdu Datong Road and Bridge Machinery Co., Ltd. At Datong Road and Bridge Machinery Co., Ltd., participants first visited the innovation product exhibition hall, where our Chairman, Mr. Wu Datong, introduced the company’s R&D achievements in bridge vibration isolation, bridge intelligent monitoring, and modular bridge products.
During the plant tour, Datong Road and Bridge highlighted its domestically leading 3,500-ton dynamic compression-shear testing system, intelligent bridge inspection robots, flashing stop alarm systems, and various innovative support, dampers, and expansion joints suited for different bridge conditions.
The conference concluded successfully on November 3. Datong will continue its efforts, forging ahead, strengthening cooperation with experts and units in research, design, and construction, actively responding to the national sustainable development strategy, and exploring bridge component innovations to contribute to achieving “green, low-carbon, convenient, and rapid” bridge construction goals in the bridge industry.
