1. Principle.
  Datong Modular Bridge Joint Systems (MBJS) work on the basis of following principle: The horizontal beams divide the movement
gap into several smaller ones. Given this reason, the movement gap over 2,000mm, can be accommodated.
  MBJS should permit movements in all six degrees of freedom, translations in all three directions and rotations about every axis.
2. Waterproofing system.
  Each individual gap is sealed watertight by elastomeric strips. A mold sinus on the edge and central beam is made for the
waterproof strip installation. A special fixture is used to press the elastomeric strip into the sinus in order to enable the joint to be
completely drained at the deck surface.

3. Application

  Datong Modular Bridge Joint Systems are typically used in bridges with movements of over 80mm, especially in long-span bridges

(bridges across the seas and big rivers).
4. Design feature.
  1) A number of profiled steels as edgebeams/centerbeams at different dimensions and weight available;
  2) Steel profiles are integrated fabrication to ensure consistent strength; Yield strength of steel profiles all reaches 345 MPa;
  3) Extrusion cavity mechanically locks rubber seals for watertight purpose;
  4) Movement can reach more than 1000 mm;
  5) Movement and rotation can occur in three axes;
  6) Noise reduction by adding sinus plates available upon request;
  7) Design and manufacture standard:AASHTO LRFD BRIDGE DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS,Section 14.5
  8) Custom design available for unique projects.
5. Types.
  Due to different supporting systems, MBJS can be divided into Welded-Multiple-Support-Bar (WMSB) Modular Bridge Joint
System (MBJS) and Single- Support-Bar (SSB) Modular Bridge Joint System (MBJS).
6. Material.
  Sinus plates should be made of Q345.
  Beams and supporting bars should be made of Q345.
  EPDM or CR sealing strip.
  Control springs, sliding systems should be made of elastomer, PTFE or polyamide.
7. Noise reduction.
  In order to meet the requirement of environmentally friendly urban constructions, MBJS can be designed with sinus plates, which
combines the features of conventional modular joint and finger joint. Those plates are designed to be able to reduce noise by 5-8db.
Repair and maintenance is also handily available.
8. Protection.
  The steel profiles are treated with corrosion protection systems based on
  ISO 12944 standard, or on applicable national standards, such as ASTRA,
  RVS, ACQPA, as customer required.
